Mini Manual - Join-Logon-Write
The Fallbrook site that Kermit and I have set up is not a normal web site, where things are administered by a webmaster. It is a Manila site. Manila is a dynamic web based writing and publishing environment for groups. In the past, those people who wished to publish on the web had to know a lot of different computer stuff. Now you do not.
It is really easy. We use these kinds of sites for beginning students all the way up to the advanced teachers. We give them a site, make them editors and let them go.
There are over 50 people in the email list. If we all wrote one little story about anything, the site would take on a new level of usefulness. It does not have to be much really, it could be a glimpse of what you are doing now, a moment that made you become who you are. It could be about your children or your family. It could be anything. I know I am asking a lot. I am asking you to share a little of yourselves.
These are just pictures of our site. I have wrapped a red and white box around them so that they look a little different than our real buttons and forms.
This first part is for those that have not yet become members of our site
Part 1 - Joining the site.
On the left of the page is an area called the membership box. ... You need to push the "Join Now" link... It will take you directly to the next pictured page, as I have demonstrated in this manual.
That will take you to this form that you have to fill out the first five fields. ... They are marked with the red *
Down at the bottom of that page. ... Before you go away. ... Push the submit button.
You will never have to do that part again. ... Now comes the easy part. ...
Part 2 - logging in
Then go to the membership box again and login. ...
This is where you enter your email address and your password. ... You are almost there.... and then push the Login button
Now you are a real editor. ... You get this extra line at the top of all the pages. ... Click on the Stories Link
Down at the bottom of the stories page is this line where you can create a new story
You will then be on this page where you can title the story and write the story. ... If you have written something in a word processing program, you could just copy out of that program and past the story into the text box.
Make sure you post the story when you are through.
I will come in after you write it and reformat it so that it looks good. ... I will then put the pictures off of your school site. (I have already taken a few, including your picture) and make a nice little place.
