Some friends and some cars gathered in Live Oak Park. This gathering is an all classes gathering of the Fallbrook Alumni.
This year was larger than last year, and next year they expect an even larger crowd. This year was about half the size of the 1966 class reunion in the same place in Live Oak Park.
Being a cross-class gathering, it was very interesting. There were young and old gathering as friends. The oldest male and female graduates were Marion Clemmens, 1936, and Chick Mahr, 1937.
The youngest? I have no idea. There were many people haveing a good time. You should have been there.

Bob Burton's Plaque Class of 1966 |
Hello classmates -
I'd like to give you an update from my knothole of Monday's event and am including the speech I made on your behalf. As Mark has already said, it went well and the Burton family, school board and Friends of the Fallbrook Library were all very happy with our gifts. The school board president told me he will remember the Class of 66 for a long time and the Burton's were tremendously appreciative. Thank you for your support classmates. I was very proud of our class. The speech I gave is below. I had a couple of photocopied letters that I read so they're not included but the rest is all here.

I just wanted to bring to your attention these two people. Accomplished, and hard working, they brought life to your website, and to your email list without really saying to much on the email list. Without their work, it would have been an entirely different reunion. They deserve accolades and pats on the back, and everyone should buy them a drink the next time you see them.
Kenny's hard work is hard to see. He did not write much. There are no published pages for you to look at. ... There is one page that you could look at. You could look at the "Find These People" page. That page is so much shorter now, then it was when we started. Kenny brought 90% of the class to the email list, and to the website. I think it was more than 90%. Just ask yourselves, "Did Kenny call me? Contact me? And, get me on the email list?"
I have no idea how many hours Ken used collecting friends and bringing them together. He worked at home. He worked on the road. He worked continually. I could not count times he sent me an email with three, or four, email addresses to add. ... They came all the time. It is my belief that the reunion would have been much smaller without Kenny's hard work.
Carla is kinda special. She jumped in and asked me what I needed from her, in order to make the bios work. ... So, we got her into using FireFox as a web browser, and then she learned how to do a little HTML encoding. Not a lot, just enough.
The results are the "Current Bios" page.
Carla collected all the Bios, and all the pictures. She then built the "Current Bios" page every single time a new Bio, or a new Image came in. Carla was diligent to the nth degree. A couple times she sent me the updated files twice in the same day. She was so busy updating the bios page that it was a little hard to keep up with her.
Kudos to you both!

Oceanside Public Library at the Civic Center |
There are several people interested in the showing of this film on the 29th. I will be driving up to Oceanside tomorrow to scout out a good coffee shop, or restaurant near the Public Library, so that we can park our cars and meet before the film for a cup of coffee, or tea, and then walk to the Library together.
The film start time is 7PM. I will be at the location from 5:30, until we walk over. My cell phone number is 619 218 2929 if you get lost, or need last minute directions. This page will be updated tomorrow evening with the exact meeting location.
If there is any child of the Military that you would like me to research, let me know, and I will ask about them at the meeting afterwards. Jack
--About the film--

All,
I hope that all of you are as excited as I am that our reunion is only a week away. I truly appreciate all of you that will be flying during this time of heightened security. I know that the destination will be worth the journey.
I thought I would summarize all of the essential information of what's going on next weekend. (The 5 W's that Chet Swinland pounded into my head in Journalism.). Please remember that all of this information is available on the class website at http://www.classannual.com:8080/fallbrook1966/ ... And at the links from the two images to the right!
Who: Well, duh, us the FUHS Class of '66 plus spouses, significant others, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids (!), and members of other classes that want to join us.
What: FUHS Class of 1966 40th Reunion, (is it really possible it's been that long, especially since we're still so young?)
Why: Because it’s been way too long since we’ve all had a chance to reconnect, reminisce, swap a few lies, compare scars and reaffirm that we are not really getting old.
Where & When:
Friday, August 18th: No formal gathering has been organized. Those who are staying at the Best Western Franciscan Inn in Fallbrook plan to gather at poolside around 5:00 pm for a BYOB Margarita Party. For those staying at the Franciscan, ice is available across from the office by the two story “new” building. Also, please remember that glass containers are not permitted in the pool area.
This is not meant to exclude anyone other than Franciscan guests, but parking is somewhat limited. If you are not staying at the Franciscan but would like to stop by, please do, just please be mindful of parking reserved for guests. I'm sure that various dinner plans will evolve as the evening progresses.
Saturday, August 19th: The BIG ONE! Our Reunion Potluck in area "C" at Live Oak Park. Area "C" is located towards the rear of the park very near the main parking lot. A map of the park is available on the class website. Please remember that there is a $2.00 charge to park and that parking is no longer allowed on Reche Rd.
The picnic is potluck meaning, please bring whatever you want to eat and drink and, if you wish, bring a little extra to share. We will be providing charcoal, BBQ grill, prep table, paper plates, napkins, cups, plastic-ware, and a large cooler with ice, bottled water and condiments.
I know that Elaine Orcutt Barlow is planning to bring some of the now legendary Fallbrook Tri-Tip and the Missouri contingent is bringing some great Kansas City BBQ sauce to accompany it, (they know my soft spots). I plan to grill up a mess o' chicken with my not yet legendary white BBQ sauce.
A couple of rules about the park: First, dogs are welcome to the park, subject to pooper scooper rules, and must be on-leash at all times. Second, beer and wine only, no liquor allowed, (Oh yeah, and no bingo or games of chance.).Also, no live music, (un)fortunately that means that Tom, Kurt, Neil and I will not be allowed to perform.
Donations: It has been our intent from the outset that this reunion should be open and available to all who wish to attend. We want no one to stay away due to price, dress codes or any other reason. That said, there will be a donation jar at the picnic for those that want to contribute. At this point it looks like the final cost for putting all of this together; (park reservation, mailings, provisions etc.) will be around $500.00.
For those not able to attend, while your donations would be gratefully accepted, I ask that you also consider making a donation to Jack via PayPal by clicking this link Donate for maintaining the websites. None of this would have been possible without Jack!
Saturday Evening August 19th: For those not ready to call it a day, there will be a no-host Karaoke Party at Cask ‘n’ Cleaver, (the former Valley Fort), from 8:00 PM until Midnight or later. Appetizers and full dinner menu are available from 5:00 PM until 10:100 PM. We’ll gather for a cocktail, a nibble and some classic '60s music. Those who can sing will entertain; those who can't sing will be bribed!
Sunday, August 20th: The FUHS Alumni Association has organized an, “Alumni Picnic, Car Rally and Backpack Packing” at Live Oak Park from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. For more information contact Jan Mahr Owen at 951-695-1554.
Again, full information is available on our class website at http://www.classannual.com:8080/fallbrook1966/. As always, if you have any questions please either post them here on the Class email list fallbrook66@classannual.com or email me directly at mwviolet@dslextreme.com.
See you next week!

"As we tic, tock, tic, tock, approach the Saturday we are all looking forward to, Connie Porter-Salinas and I thought it would be helpful to know exactly where the Reunion Picnic will be held. Live Oak Park is, of course, exactly where you remember it being. There have, however, been a few changes. There is now a traffic signal at Reche Rd. and Gird Rd. You will want to turn there to access the main parking lot of the park. If it is full, there is additional parking available on the west side of the park as well as south of Reche on Gird Rd.
Please be prepared for the fact that the County charges $2.00 per car, per day to park. (There are several handicapped parking spaces in the main lot). Since we want no one's weekend to be spoiled by being towed, please remember that there is NO PARKING on Reche Rd.! I have been told that the County is merciless in towing illegally parked cars. The best parking tip is to come early and spend a nice long afternoon with your friends and classmates.
A couple of other quick notes:
First: Dogs are still allowed in the park, BUT must be on a leash at all times. The usual pooper scooper rules are in effect.
Second: As I am sure you have heard, So. Cal. is in the midst of a record setting heat wave this summer. I've been to the park twice in the past couple of weeks and even there, it has been HOT, HOT, HOT! Please dress accordingly, (we don't want Milt Davies and the guys have to call out the EMTs). Let's save the killer "dressing to the nines" for Saturday evening at Cask 'n' Cleaver. (Because of my warning you of this, it will probably be foggy and cold the weekend of the 19th!)
As always, if anyone has questions, ideas or suggestions please either post them to the list or email me directly at mwviolet(at)dslextreme.com.
See you in three weeks, Mark V"

Jack,
hopefully this is the right process to submit this information. I know you have instructed us many times on how to submit information but I have a thousand e-mail messages in my Class of 66 folder that have come through the web site and I'm not sure where your instructions are. I have attached six JPEG files.
Two are photos that appeared in the newspaper during our senior year and the other four are scans of documents I have kept in my mementos folder from our senior year. The four are two agendas prepared by senior class president Larry Weigle and two are the senior class budget as we were nearing the end of the school year.
Funny what you put away as keepsakes.
Bob, Thanx for the submissions. Click on the image to the right and be whisked away with Bob's images. ... Just for everyone's information, send images in the file format .jpg, one image per email, to this email address -> jack(at)classannual.com Jack

Last page -- Put these with the cover, and we are done!
Thanks again for all your work on this, Jack. The site really has brought people together.
Neil
Thanx Neil. ... Well as your mother once told you, "Wear clean underwear." ... Oh no, that's the wrong quote. ... It was more like, "Be careful what you write down, because it may come back and bite you between your knees, and your neck, some where you cannot easily see." ...
Or something like that. ...
Anyway, Neil scanned in some memories, and here they are. Just click on the photo, or the link under the photo and take a walk back to Eighth Grade. Jack
